I have macOS High Sierra (10.13.1) on VMware Workstation 14 Pro 3) I tried setting the screen's native resolution in the Display settings of VMware, still nothing. One thing to note is that it runs correctly up until 1366x768. "sudo defaults delete /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist .

  1. When I start Yosemite in VMware Fusion as a guest its display resolution is 1024x768 and I cannot change it! I looked in System Preferences under display (in the guest OS) and I looked at VM settings for the guest in VMware Fusion. Neither place gives the option to change the resolution.

  2. I was able to install Windows 10 via ISO on my Mac Book Pro and finally got through the SVGA bug. I'm not sure if its a Video/Graphics controller issue or a drivers issue but the retina display resolution on Windows.

  3. I have installed VMware tools that was created on 14 September 2017 and VMware unlocker version 2.1.1 made by DrDonk. When logging in the background isn't the blurred wallpaper and the dock isn't transparent as it should be, or at least from what I saw on the internet.

  1. Vmware Mac Os X users generally struggle to get original Monitor Resolution for their VMware Installation. Mac VGA Driver for VMware can help to get all display resolution options.

  2. The VMware-supplied video driver may need to be adjusted to add the new ACE, Player, Server, or Fusion), add this line so that video memory settings .

  3. and now it only shows VMware driver. That is what it should display. A VM has a VMware Video-card - so it needs VMware-drivers. Dont try to install Intel,Nvidia or AMD-drivers - they are not appropriate.

I've updated to macOS Sierra on VMware Workstation v12.5. Don't forget to press windows key + R during reboot the mac os for windows .

After a system reboot I reinstalled VMWare Tools, but I used the “custom” option and omitted installing the video driver. I still need all the other benefits (like copying files between VM and Desktop) that VMWare Tools provides. Problem solved.

For customers who are running Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) or newer in a Virtual Machine, you may have noticed that you can no longer set a custom display resolution beyond the default 1024x768 in either VMware Fusion and vSphere, regardless of the amount of video memory that has been allocated.

This section explains how to configure the video driver in a Windows 98 physical disk installation using VMware Workstation. The steps below assume you are using Windows 98 as one of the operating systems in a dual-boot or multiple-boot configuration. Following these steps, you create separate.
